Testimonials

"I was always confident that Mum was being looked after by caring and professional helpers. The carers were never phased by Mum's health issues and gave Mum the respect that she needed. The home was always cleaned meticulously; little accidents were promptly dealt with in order to maintain good hygiene. The extension to the home will help. Mum was very particular in what she wanted or didn't want to do. The carers always respected Mum's right to choose. Mum was totally secure and relaxed in the home. My wife and I always knew that Mum was in safe hands. During the last few weeks of Mum's life, the carers really excelled in the level of care, support and friendship that they gave to Mum, who was very pleased to be there. The staff and management of the home are extremely professional and always provide a strong welcome to visitors. We would definetly recommend Dove House to others. They really looked after our Mother."

Mr B Cohen (Son of Resident) 16/05/17

"I felt the care and support was extremely professional and personal. Mum's needs regarding her medication and on-going medical issues were dealt with in a timely manner, external Doctor was involved very promptly. Keeping an old property up to a certain standard must be a challenge, but I was always pleasently surprised how beautiful the place looked. Food was vaired and wholesome. Nice touch to be offered a drink and biscuit every visit. All staff were always warm and friendly with a professional touch. First class response to any issues no matter how small."

Mr L Birds (Son of Resident) 16/05/17

"Very happy. She was treated with respect and dignity and staff went the "extra mile". My mother's medical needs were very well handled by Dove house. She had many issues which were all dealt with. The atmosphere was homely which helped. Difficult to suggest improvements to such an old building without ruining the homely feel. Mum was treated as an individual rather than just another resident. Mum was diabetic so her choices were restricted but her appetite was well catered for. Through all the hospital visits and treatment given, Dove House management and staff did everything to allow mum to retain her dignity. [How welcoming and professional were staff and the Management at Dove House?] Brilliant. Always welcome and offered tea/coffee. They became friends."

Andrew Wint (Son of Resident) 17/03/17

"Mum always said she was happy to be at Dove house. The staff were friendly and caring and we, as visitors, thought so too. We had no complaints at all. Obviously being very elderly, Mum had issues and there seemed to be a steady stream of professionals helping her overcome them and keep her happy and healthy. We couldn't have wished for better.

Both the place and the residents were clean and tidy. A good all round atmosphere where the residents were happy to chat with us as visitors. Don't know how much sanitizer is used, but Dove House was always a pleasure to walk into! Mum certainly had not complaints and said how kind the staff were. She was always treated with respect and asked what she wanted to do. We were always happy with this, Mum said there was always a choice if the menu didn't suit. She was always encouraged to eat. Also tea and biscuits went down well. As visitors we were always asked if we would like a drink, so more than satisfied.

As mum was very old there was always a carer by her side when she moved and it was good to know there was a motion sensor in her room. We and she had no complaints about safety. When life went downhill for her we were so pleased with how she was handled and cared for. The staff were kind and treated her with the respect she so deserved, and for that we owe our grateful thanks. Everyone was friendly and helpful and it seemed a happy atmosphere.

It was good to you [the Manager] were either in the office or at the end of the phone. Any questions were explained and we were always kept well informed. I certainly would [recommend Dove house] and have!"

Mrs E Rider (Daughter of Resident) 17/08/16

"I was very happy with the care that was given to Mum at all times during her stay. All the staff kept a close eye on Mum's health and very quickly called for the doctor to visit when needed.

The atmosphere at Dove House is very homely and clean and tidy. Mum was allowed to make choices whilst at the same time was given guidance to make the right decisions. Mum always enjoyed the food, but was given the required encouragement to eat and drink more.

Mum always felt safe because she could get help quickly. We were always welcomed and there was always someone to ask if we were concerned about anything.

We definitely would recommend Dove House and would be happy to come to live there later if we needed care."

Mrs C Holmes (Daughter of Resident) 18/06/16

"A wonderful and caring place to be both for residents and relatives alike. Very experienced and knowledgeable staff who, when necessary get support from the excellent local surgery etc.

Very clean and light and airy-warm and welcoming without being a 'hot house' and overbearing. I understand you are enlarging the dining room in future.

Very good, for quickly understanding resident's needs and wishes while at the same time encouraging mobility etc. Superb, home cooking when visiting, the smell was lovely.

Mum felt safe here, that was very important both to her and to myself; a real comfort. The care shown by everyone in particular Sarah has been a great source of comfort to myself-many thanks. A warm and friendly welcome as soon as you stepped through the door, supported by a good management team.

Any issues or questions were resolved quickly. A good understanding and knowledge of the care of the elderly. Would recommend without hesitation, a caring homely environment for your loved ones. As soon as I walked through the door to visit for the first time everything felt right about Dove House. Many thanks, the Dove Houses of this world are few and far between, keep up the good work. I have already recommended you."

Mrs Jane Bassett (Daughter of Resident) 03/06/16

"It was lovely. It had a typical elderly person's home feel with ornaments and trinkets. Very homely feel and not clinical but extremely clean. My Aunt says the food was absolutely beautiful. All home cooked and all the things she liked. We had a lovely welcome, so friendly and put at ease straight away. We left our aunt in your care with no worries at all. On the occasions I had to telephone to see if my Aunt was ok, I was not rushed and my enquiries were answered fully."

Mrs C Wilson (Niece of respite resident) 01/06/16

"All healthcare needs were met with professionalism and compassion. My mother was encouraged to have some independence while at the same time receiving personalised care by conscientious and caring staff. My mother was always happy with the food and drink offered. My mother knew that there would always be someone there if she needed assistance. Having her in a safe environment was very important to us. The staff enabled my mother to decide where she would like to spend her last days. They showed compassions and respect at all times. Unfailingly welcoming and professional."

Mrs S Cross (Daughter of resident) 16/03/16

"The care and support for my mother was excellent. She was treated with the utmost care and respect. We found everything to be perfect for my mother"

H O'Leary (Daughter of Resident) 03/08/15

"I was extremely happy with the care given to my mother who had Alzheimer's and hearing problems as well as a lack of mobility. I was very happy that whatever problems my mother had health wise would be dealt with by the appropriate professionals as quickly as possible.

As soon as I walked through the door of Dove House I felt as though I was visiting my mother in her own home run by staff who were there to attend to all her needs to the very best of their ability. It did not feel like a care home, or smell like one, just a large house full of visiting friends and relations.

Her room was clean, bright and comfortable just as she always liked her own to be. The lift enabled her to pop up to her room where she could happily watch TV when she wished. My sister-in-law loved to see the owners of the home and their children decorating the large Christmas tree, accompanied by the family dog while the residents watched or helped. It was just like the scene on a Christmas card. The dining room was cosy and welcoming but perhaps a little dark. Nothing that a bright pair of curtains wouldn't fix.

The staff seemed to understand the needs of someone with Alzheimer's and treated Mother with respect and dignity. I was very satisfied with the meals and snacks my mother received and the help given to try to keep up her weight. She felt she was at home with friends and very safe"

"Very homely atmosphere and you are in process of upgrading décor and facilities. Always greeted with a smile and offer of refreshments. Always listened and responded if they could with a strong minded lady! Yes, especially if early stages of needing care, still with some independence"
